Most professional courses are tough and time-consuming. CA is too.  Nonetheless, it is a highly paid career option.

It is true that the route to it is tough, no matter the level of IQ of the student.  But do not go by the Pass percentile, because half the people appearing for the first stage drop out in between.

To come up trumps you can start early…

    CPT stage

Candidates who have passed or appearing for 12 board exams can take up CA Foundation.  The subjects at this level are Accounts, Business Law, Business Economics and GK that can be cleared with a fair amount of preparation.

    IPCC stage

Now, Time management becomes crucial because you have only 2 months to prepare for the exam.

    CA articleship and Finals

This last stage is the most challenging.  You need to study for your exams as well as work as an assistant in the Firm for 3 years.  Attending coaching classes at this stage is recommended.  Allocating time for all activities and also your social life becomes stressful. But concentration and persistence will pay rich benefits.

Remember, to clear the exams you should

    1. Read more books than the ICAI council provides
    2. Give a lot of time for self-study.
    3. Get additional coaching, search for good teachers
    4. Avoid procrastination
    5. Set goals, the higher the better and achieve them.
    6. Join study groups and discuss regularly
    7. Don’t give room to negativity
    8. Keep motivating yourself with the benefits of gaining the CA degree
    9. Take breaks whenever you feel monotonous.
    10. Sleep and eat well else your studies will be affected.

Keeping yourself on track for 5 years with self-discipline, even while doing your 3 years articleship, could get you that elusive CA qualification.
